@theuncertainhour thank you!! It’s an idea I still love. And just for that, have the first paragraph I wrote that never went anywhere!
Anyone would have assumed the two slight, fair-haired aristocrats were sister and brother, the plain literary lady probably a friend of hers, and the untidy little Scotsman perhaps a family lawyer. In point of fact the novelist was the wife of the fair gentleman; the apparent Scot, an old friend of his as of many other remarkable people, was not even born on Earth; and it was to the latter that the haughty blonde was attached. Which just shows the folly of trusting in appearances.
I’m also not sure how long I could keep up that sententious omniscient narrator voice, but it was fun while it lasted :)
